VSphere license downgrade then upgrade

I have purchases VSphere licenses that are 7.X however, i need to downgrade them to 6.7 for now as we are not ready to upgrade to the 7.X yet. My question is, can I downgrade these licenses to the 6.x and then in a few months when we are ready upgrade them again to 7.x licenses? Any clarification on this would help and links to any documentation for verification of this would be wonderful! Thanks!!

You can safely proceed with the license downgrade from 7.x to 6.x and when you are ready redo the upgrade from 6.x to 7.x. The only thing you need to check is to always have an active "Support and Subscription contract".
