ESXi on HP Proliant DL180 G6
Hi,
Don't know whether this is the right place to post this. Our server infrastructure is using DELL servers and storage. However recently one of the remote site bought the above HP server to replace their server which is currently handling file and print share and DC as well. I need to install ESXi and convert the current server to a VM and hosted on the new HP server (esxi)
Just need help in the requirements like files to be downloaded from HP and setup on the server etc.
Thanks

What RAID card does this server have? Some of its options are supported, some are not.

I'm afraid you will still need to advise the RAID card model before anyone can check the HCL.

Please check VMware from HP for ProLiant Servers - Support Matrix in addition to the official VMware Compatibility Guide
from HP's foot notes for the 4.x version:
(3) On some standard configurations, ProLiants come with HP Smart Array B110i. If this Smart Array is installed, RAID is not supported in any version of ESX. For RAID support, please add HP Smart Array P212, P410 or P411.

The P410 will work perfectly (provided it is not the "Zero memory" model). Ensure it contains BBWC/FBWC for disk performance (write-back operation).
You can access HP's OEM images from HP custom ESXi image. VMware's original ESXi installation ISO should also work with this server.
