Hello,
I have vSphere 5.5 servers and what I liked about that version is in the client I could hover over the physical vmnic and it would show a nice bubble with all the information I need to get the details of the physical switch.
I wish I can find the exact place in the vSphere 6.5 web pages. I did manage to get to the details once, but cannot find it again. It seems obvious, but not clear where to click. Any online documentation doesn't show any examples. Is there anyone who can help?
Thanks
Richard

On vSphere Web Client HTML5 version, just go to Configure -> Networking -> Physical Adapters then select the vmnicX and you will have the option to check the CDP or LLDP information like this:

The two screens show what I can see, nothing similar to what you have. My server is not the vCentre, only a standalone VM Host.

The CDP (Cisco DIscovery Protocol) is also available if you connect directly to the vSphere Host Client, but you need to make sure it is enabled on physical switch. Here is how it shows on vSphere Host Client:

Hi,
many thanks, at least I know where to look for it. I thought I have seen it, so I'll speak to my network admin to check the switch. Great hint
I am so new to this stuff and still learning.
Thanks for the screen shot.
