I recently had a similar issue and we found that one of our servers were pointing to the wrong port in the vip (443 instead of 8443). Once we corrected that, the issue was resolved.
Could be related. There should be a pass-through between front and back ends, no interception of traffic or checking for certificate. The front servers hosts the certificate and it started working perfectly for me.
