VCenter Server In Place Upgrage 2008 r2 to 2012 r2

I have a vitrual vcenter server running windows server 2008 r2. Has anyone successfully done an in place upgrade to windows server 2012 r2. If so are there any 'Gotcha's'  that I should be prepared for?

You should plan on moving away from the windows installation of vsphere as it will be going away and migrate over to the applicance version.
