Upgrade Horizon Client on Windows 10/11 using VMware WSO UEM

Hi,

What is the best method to upgrade Horizon Client on Windows 10/11 using VMware WSO UEM?
The big problem is that you cannot upgrade when the Horizon Client is in use.
This is especially difficult for laptop users. Does anyone have a good idea?

Thanks!

Not sure of the context of the devices, but assuming they are company devices, enrolled in UEM, OR they are BYOD that are enrolled.  Either way, worst case you might have to have the user re-enroll in UEM.  This document is pretty helpful, especially with listing of trusted sites, settings and permissions to have set up for enrollment.

Hello,

If Horizon Client application is distributed from WS1 as an internal app, how about distributing the latest version of Horizon Client application as an on-demand application?

I mean to say flow as below;

  1. Add the latest version of Horizon Client application as an on-demand application.
  2. Announce the retiring date of old Horizon Client application to device users and let them update manually Horizon Client apps from catalog anytime they like before the deadline.
  3. When the deadline comes, retire the old Horizon Client application from the WS1 UEM console.

Workspace ONE has many rich options (WS1 Intelligence, product provisioning, scripts, etc...) to update applications on remote devices, so above is just a simple example.
You may also opt-in to those options if you have more complex and advanced requirements.
