Retain friendly name after device wipe and re-enrollment

Dear forum members,

I need to device wipe a bunch of existing iPads. These iPads are already in the system and named (friendly name) specifically to their location.

Is there a way that when you do a full device wipe from the console, we could keep the friendly name of the same device. So when the device came back up and enroll with the console again, it will have the same friendly name.

Hello - 

There is one way I use. We do not use the Asset Number field for much. Since we have multiple devices deployed across 3 different campuses, and multiple locations across each campus, I the desired friendly name as the Asset Number (edit device). Then, in the Friendly Name I remove the default value and add Asset Number as Friendly Name, check the Set Friendly Name as Device Name. Now, as long as you don't delete the device record, you can wipe and re-provision the device as many times as you want, and it will retain the same name.
