Report subscription changes in 9.x - what a pain....

HI guys

since we upgraded from 8.4 to 9.4 we are unable to manage our subscribed reports.
It seems we can no longer just subscribe by using an smtp address and have the report sent as an attachment.

Now every recipient must hold an admin role, and the mail sent by the subscription only contains a link to download the report, not the report itself.

My problem is that the recipients are in different domains and network segments, and we cannot easily open firewalls for that. It seems this is by design.

Is anyone else affected by this problem ? Any workarounds for this ?
