Portal Admins based on Active Directory groups

I want to add additional users with the 'admin' status, so that more people can use the 'Administration Console'. I want to to this by using Active Directory groups.

Can anyone tell if this is possible and how to do it?

Perhaps it is in the documentation, but I couldn't find it.

At this time, it's not possible to assign Admin role to a group of users. You can however promote individual users to Administrator role. You can search for a username and click on the username to view details of a user. On the left hand side you will see a Role(s) and the text "User" is clickable. When you click on that text you will be able to change the role.
