How to force OS updates on iOS devices over Cellular?

Is it possible to force OS updates on iOS through the UEM console?

I can force the updates when the devices on Wi-Fi, and I know there is a setting on iOS that allows the download of OS updates over cellular, but I can't seem to find the setting on UEM.

I'm looking in the iOS device profiles settings, but I can't see that particular setting anywhere.

Device - iOS restriction profile doesn't have the UI key to configure download iOS over Celluar data.

You may seek VMware Support for some custom XML if they can help.

You can still force auto download and update of iOS versions on iOS devices.

In your UEM admin console :

Devices > Device Updates > iOS > Select an iOS version > Manage Assignments > New Assignment

Set preferred date and time.

Thanks for the reply!

I'll reach out to VMware to see if they can help out with the XML file.

In my testing (iPhone 14 going from iOS 16 > 16.1) when I assign the device to the 16.1 update, it automatically requests the update, yes but when it comes to the downloading part it just says 'paused' until connects to Wi-Fi.

It doesn't prompt if I want to download over cellular sadly, it only seems to want to download the update when the device is connected to Wi-Fi.
