Horizon Workspace update to 1.8 in place

Hi,

I'm running a 1.5.0.0 version of Workspace and I want to upgrade to the 1.8 version.

I'm trying to update with the suggested command /usr/local/horizon/lib/menu/updatemgr.hzn update but the result is always:

Checking for updates, this can take up to 5 minutes.

........

All VMs are up to date, no updates needed.

But if I try with the /usr/local/horizon/lib/menu/updatemgr.hzn check command from the console

the answer is

Checking for updates, this can take up to 5 minutes.

........................

Current version: 1.5.0.0

Update version available: 1.8.0.1800

....

Someone knows why?

Hi Diego,

had the exact same behaviour yesterday.

Have you added by any chance any extra vm into the Horizon vapp ? If that is your case you have to move them away and only leave the horizon vapp inside.

I had my db server. As soon as I moved it away the upgrade kicked in.

Be aware that the upgrade will last some time and not 15 minutes. So plan your downtime accordingly Smiley Wink

If you have any issues during your upgrade port them here I might be able to help you.

Cheers

Hi Seb,

thanks for your answer!

No other machines in the vApp. Only the ones created during the install...

I have a doubt regarding the powerd off datava-template machine in the vApp... because in the updatemgr.hzn script there is a vm power status check...

I try to move it out from the vApp and I give a feed-back here.

I have upgraded with this vm inside so you should not move it away.

Are those machine behind a proxy - firewall ... ?

Are you logged in with root ?

I have allowed full access to outside during the upgrade.

might not be relevant at all but had issues running the command. I might be stupid also Smiley Happy but I had to change to the updatemgr.hzn folder and execute it with ./ in front to make it start.

I found that there was some issue with the communications between the VMs.

I tried a ssh connection to another VM of the vApp and a password prompt appeared 😕

So I decided to reinstall the vApp from scratch...

Many thanks for your help!

You might not need to reinstall.

I remember there was an issue with the password expiring.

Check this link it might be your issue Smiley Wink
