Corrupt profiles & programs after migration assistant restore.

When a user receives a new macOS computer. When the user uses the Timemachine restore or migration assistant we run into challenges with profiles and/or programs that are being migrated over from the old computer to the new computer. On the new computer both some profiles and programs won't work to some extent or not at all. And it's not like an easy fix to just uninstall profile/program and reinstall them, that won’t make it better.

We have tried to look at this without coming up with a good solution. The only thing that we have found is to change the "Default Profile Assigned for Newly Synced Devices", set from settings/Devices & Users/Apple/Device Enrollment Program/. Where we want to turn off "Restoring from Backup" for macOS but unfortunately this setting affects both macOS and iOS and we wanna keep it for iOS. We can create a separate profile for iOS and assign it manually but it's another thing to remember. Further, we also need to stop the migration assistant from running once the machine is fully started.

What would be great is the be able to have different profiles for newly synced devices depending on if it's a macOS or an iOS but that feature is not available in WS1.

Anyone else that has run into the same issue and solved the issue?

Hi Mike

we are also having the problem with users overwriting profiles on fresh enrolled macOS systems.
could you please explain what exactly you change in the Settings options?
System/Apple/Profile/Devices&Users/ ?

Its a huge problem on our end.

Thanks,'
