Book icons for PDFs not showing up in iBooks uploaded from AirWatch

I just created a bunch of new books (PDFs) to upload to our iPads (~50) to place in iBooks. Environment of course is Apple iOS, target devices are all iPads and the internal books created as PDFs will upload to iBooks. When I created the book resource I always add a thumbnail (png or jpg) with the book. The Thumbnails (icons) show correctly in Airwatch when looking at the book list or each book individually. However when I upload the books to the devices, ALL of them have a generic icon that just says "Title". No icon is displayed meaning that users need to open each one to see what it is.

I don't think it has anything to do with AirWatch. I see the Title/Author icon also on some PDFs copied from PCs to iPad. Sometimes, the title and author are actual titles and names. It probably more has to do with the PDF metadata.

Anyway, iBooks is already on the end-of-life path.
