Adding a DS Server - Is it required to import a configuration from previous installation?

I am installing an additional DS server to our pool. The current DS pool consists of 2 load-balanced DS servers that we installed years ago. I am replacing these servers (2012 R2) with new Server 2019 servers. The instructions say the following:

"Progress through the screens until you reach the Export/Import Setup Configuration form. This time, select Export configuration and use it on multiple servers if you have multiple load- balanced Application servers."

Is this a hard requirement? Or, can I just run the installer like a new installer and have the same result? I'm not doing anything fancy here... just a plain DS installation.

As a side-note... During the installation, it asks for the AirWatch Database Server. I can give it the cluster hostname and the credentials, and I can browse for the database just fine. One of my fears is that if I continue on past this step, it will mess up my existing database. That's why I wanted to post here and get a sanity check before I proceed any further.

If I need to import a configuration file, then how can I get/generate one of those configuration files at this point in time? I did not export a config file for the previous installations (or at least I don't remember doing that), so I'm not sure how to do that.

Thanks for the advice ahead of time... this forum has been quite helpful so far!

You don't need an existing DS config export to add an additional DS, it just saves you having to manually enter all the details and select the same components in the dropdown during the installer that's all.

We added multiple DS servers a few years after the initial deployment without any issue
