keep windows service alive after logging out of virtual machine

i am having a problem with a virtual machine where a running application's windows service (running under the Local system account) does not stay running when i logout of the virtual machine. the virtual machine itself seems to stay up, since i can ping its ip address.

is there some configuration option when this virtual machine was created that controls this behavior and is not set correctly? this service needs to be up and running on the vm whether or not a user is logged into the virtual machine.

adv-thanks-ance.

Which VMware product are you running the VM on?

I doubt that there's something you can do from the Hypervisor (virtual machine) side. I rather think that the service is somehow controlled by the application itself, which shuts down the service on user logoff.
