PXE BOOTING USING EFI FIRMWARE

Hi Guys,

We're running VMware ESXI 7.1. I'm hoping someone could help us through an issue we're having...

We have WDS deployed on Windows Server 2016. We've been unsuccessful when trying to get VMware guest machines to PXE boot from WDS using the EFI firmware setting under VM Options > Firmware. What's happening is that the VM boots, the NDP file is downloading, but then nothing further happens.

So, first, we're seeing this:

Then we're seeing this:

WDS is used for image deployments to physical machines, and guest VMs hosted in our RHEV environment, so we know WDS is working fine. We've also been able to get it working with VMware guest VMs, but only by switching the guest VMware VM firmware over to BIOS. This setting is under VM Options > Firmware.

Does anyone know how we can get PXE working with guest VMware machines using the EFI firmware? Secondly, it is a big deal if we use the BIOS firmware?
