can you clone from one data base to another

I assume you are referring form one VC environment ot another - and the answer is no.

Assuming you have a 3.5 environemnt - the best way to do this is export the VM from one environment and import it into the other -

If storage is shared between the servers in question, you may do it from the CLI with "vmkfstools -i".

For VC it is as already posted, for other DB's user what ever tools are available for the DB in question.

or are you refering to cloning a DB server with Data intact?
