Hey guys,
So who has bought shares already? I got mine!
Respectfully,
Matthew
Up 75% already!
IPO priced them at $29 (US) a share. The secondary market opened at $52. Seems to be hovering around $50 right now!
Alot of people are thinking this might be like a google performer, which increased 6 times over. If that were true, it would place the future price around $175, (not right away of course, but at some point).
Respectfully,
Matthew
Got me some at about $51 :smileyshocked:)
Now I'll have EVEN more interest in VMware as a Company!
I found it difficult to get in at the ipo price Not sure it's worth it to buy at $50 now.
That might be one of the best quotes ever at the end of the year
I think you had to be able to walk on water to get the IPO price
Its been an education for me watching the amount of people and money required to IPO - the amount of roadshows, interviews, rules of engagement... amazing. I think the guys at the top did a great job.
I hope the shares go high and reward the folks on here who were a big part of the success - it still amazes me how at our internal world-wide meetings every year the company pays tribute to the community, probably unlike many other software orgs other than open source.
Next topic should be... who can predict the price at the end of the year!!
I'll call you from my jet to let you know.

Or same thing, but a different outfit:
You only bought one share?
Just kidding... I hope you didn't mortgage the house, wife and kids otherwise we will all have to carry that burden too

I don't think she can walk on water (which I thought it was the pre-req to buy at IPO prices).
Massimo.
This IPO is similar to all the others I've seen... where the big institutions get a pre-IPO bite (because of their liquidity) and employees get a pre-IPO bite (because of their hard work and loyalty).
What used to annoy me, especially in the 1980s when a lot of UK national institutions were sold off, was that the banks got first ask at all of the stock and the public were left with measly pickings in a restricted market!
This is much fairer, being the USA I wanted to post the link to the video of the bell ringing and all that, but realised that is probably under the control of our marketing army so quickly realised my potential[/i] mistake and possible[/i] punishment! Tis a good vid, though! Hope it can be posted asap!
BTW... what is the name of the Italian stock market?
BTW... what is the name of the Italian stock market?
Not an expert on the matter but it should be S&P/MIB
