so if its with vmwesx & vmwsvr etc etc do i have to post it twice / three times / four times ?

No - then I would post it in "Virtual Machine and Guest OS"

wouldn't a better solution be to create a forum for generic guest and vmware tools questions ?

Definitely yes.

It depends on the VMware product you use.

If it is ESX post in the Virtual Machine and Guest OS forum

If is is VMware Server post in the VMware Server forum

If is is VMware Workstation post in the VMware Workstation forum

If is is VMware Player post in the VMware Player forum

And if is is VMware Fusion post in the VMware Fusion forum

I know that this really isn't logical.

< Moderator hat on >

Please don't cross post questions.

If you think you have posted your question in the wrong forum ask one of the User Moderators to move it.

Sorry "repost" was the wrong phrase to use !

This question was a question about where to ask questions !

(So no need to move it if you don't feel its necessary)

I have now created a separate new post with just my actual question !
