I have 4 old win 95 and win 98 laptops that do not have usb ports or cd drives onlt serial and parrallel ports.
I need to convert these to virtual machines so my question is can i use vmware converter? wil it run? how could i get a file that size off the machine?
No network / nics either? Rough if so.
No ethernet ports. will the converter run on win 95 and 98?
On what platform do you want to run these VM?
On ESX 3.x they hare not supported.
On VS 4 seems that they will supported.

I want to use them on vm ware desktop and player on a win xp pro host machine and maybe a vista host.
You can try a cold conversion but you must have the enterprise version.
In any case Win95/98 is very simple, you can also copy all file between you source and the VM (for example using Linux Live), then use a bootable floppy to reinstall system (sys a: c:) and reinstall MBR (fdisk /mbr).

if there are no ethernet ports, no network connectivity, a cold or hot covert is not going to work, period. You need network connectivity for VMware Converter.
I think due to lack of any usable ports on the machines in question, your options are very limited. Your best bet would be to rebuild.
