Hi,
Sorry if I didn't post in the right area - I have a VMDK file Ive been using for a while which I would now like put on a bootable DVD, so I can replace my current OS completely with it. I had the disc but its now damaged so all I have left is the VMDK, is there anyway to make it a bootable DVD?
Thanks.
vmdks and bootable DVDs are like apples and ... ... fish maybe ...
You can create bootable DVDs with Windows if it is XP or newer and with Linux.
But the process of doing so is very advanced stuff and nothing you can acchieve in a week or two if this is your first time.
I would suggest you install a regular Windows with VMware Workstation or Player to your machine and then use this vmdk inside a virtual machine.
Thats way easier ...

Well I might take a look at the process, is there a tutorial I can get a link to?
Thanks.

By the way - turning a vmdk into a bootable USB-disk is still tricky but way easier then what you have in mind

Hi,
Why do you want create bootable DVD if you have working VMDK file? Create a .vmx file and use the VMDK file that you have.
Thanks.
If I understand OP correctly he wants tyhe bootable DVD to replace the regular hosts system - so in this case he would not have Workstation or VMplayer installed at all.
