A few months back someone posted a nice Excel spreadsheet that would give you a rough idea of how much a VM would have cost if you had of purchase physical as opposed to using virtual.
Does anyone know where I can find this spreadsheet?
Yeah I had to create that since one of my clients had the "VMs are free" concept going on in 2004... even with the price model to replace capacity it took them a YEAR to get it back to charging for servers....
We've rolled out 88 new VM's since August 2006 because VM's are free. The problem is that we don't have anyone to support these VM's because new employees are not free.
