Smoothwall VM doesn't control eth1, can't handle DHCP

I'm setting up a Smoothwall router as a virtual machine. It connects to the internet fine through the host's eth0 connection. I'm running the green interface through eth1, to which client devices will connect to smoothwall. However, whenever a client device tries to get a DHCP lease via a cable connected to the physical eth1 port, the host OS tries to handle it instead of the guest. How can I change this?

Guest: Smoothwall v. 2.0

Host: Ubuntu Server edition 7.04, 512MB RAM, 2 10/100 NICs, other specs unknown at this time.
