Management tool

Hello,

I am looking for a tool which allows to analyze logs on ESX servers and search for certain patterns, like error, fault and etc. This will help to prevent problems.

Also tool should analyze perfromance and alarm in case of potential problems (like ESX starts to swap or ballon, machines readiness is high and etc).

Pretty much analyze counters from ESXTOP and report.

Any recommendation?

Thank you in advance.

Another great tool is vFoglight by Vizioncore. It won't do analysis of your log files but it has a great deal of alerts you can configure for almost any setting in ESX. I was really impressed when I looked at it, though it takes a lot of time and some experience to make configure it initially.

Splunk, Logcheck (which is documented in my books), vWire, and any other syslog style monitoring tool.

Also tool should analyze perfromance and alarm in case of potential problems (like ESX starts to swap or ballon, machines readiness is high and etc).

eG, vWire (somewhat), vFoglight, etc. There are many performance monitoring tools.

Pretty much analyze counters from ESXTOP and report.

Not something you would run all the time as it could degrade performance but there is a great whitepaper on this... http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-9279
