chkconfig --list
you should get snmpd
chkconfig --level 2345 snmpd on
service start snmpd
make sure you've edited your snmpd.conf file in /etc/ before - man snmpd.conf and read the actual file for examples.
esxcfg-firewall -o 161,tcp,in,SNMPD
