Hi All
I have just installed VMware Server on my Vista Business laptop. I now have a shortcut that says
"VMware Server Home Page". When I click this, I just get a browser
window opening at:
Then a "Connection Interrupted" error from Firefox. What do I need to get VMware Server operational?
I just want to run the VM of my laptop that I created with VMware Converter.
Thanks All
Did you ever get to the logon page?
Try entering the IP instead of the computer name in the URL.
Did you try with IE?

VMware server as I recall runs as a service and you access it through a browser - I would second try using IE -

OK, I've now switched to IE and replaced the computer name with the IP address, and I'm at the VMware Infrastructure Web Access login screen. Can anyone tell me where you get the login details for this page?
Thanks
OK, I've logged in with my normal Windows password, I'm now into VMware Infrastructure Web Access.

Thanks. If I've created a virtual machine with VMware Converter, how should I be accessing this in VMware Server? Do I have to import the virtual machine first?

When you converted your virtual machine you are given the option to select the platform type (Virtual Infrastructure Virtual Machine or Other Virtual Machine).Other Virtual Machine should have been selected for a VM Server vm. Once you have the folder with the vm files, copy it to c:\virtual machines ( the default directory created by the VM Server installation ). Then in the VM Server web interface add the machine and browse to the directory anything placed under the C:\Virtual Machine directory will be visible to the web interface. Add the virtual machine and then be sure to upgrade the hardware ( seen in the right panel instructions ).
Tips: Add Microsoft loopback adapter to your workstation. This will come in handy if you have to disconnect your network cable and still want access to the web interface. Ensure that the user account you are using is added to the local account of your workstation with administrator privileges (especially if your using a domain account )
Hope this helps
