Too little too late. We pushed through a 16 server order and went back to Intel. AMD is going to have to prove this won't happen again and come to the table with a pretty compelling story moving forward. Bareclona has been a big disapointment. I felt a little bad going back to Intel, especially for our sales rep, what we really had no option.
We will likely have another big order around the end of the year. I hope for them they have all their ducks in a row, get aggressive on pricing, and up their value story. I hate flip flopping so they will have to really come to the plate with something special.
Agreed. AMD failed to repsond to Intel's 2 x Dual Core's on the same chip and has watched their Opteron gains evaporate. Did they not have the ability to slap 2 Opteron's together on the same CPU to hold Intel while they were resolving the Barcelona issues? I don't know.
We were about to pull the trigger on our first Intel server in 4 years (a QC) when we received the news that HP was finally shipping AMD QCs. We shall see how this all plays out, but Intel should be able to easily catchup to AMDs innovations such as memory speeds before AMD has another opp to out maneuver them.
I hope that AMD can be competitive again as competition benefits us all.

Not only what other people have said, but also take a look at the speeds: 2.3GHz. Even though it's not apples to apples, AMD needs to up it to the 2.7GHz area to equate to Intel's current offerings performance wise. About a year ago, one of the folks at AMD said there was going to be a refresh to up the speed, but that was before the TLB problem was discovered.
