File System Becoming Read Only

I have run a few times into situations where the Linux guest file system (ext3) become read only.

I found two VMWare knowledge base articles, and one Ubuntu bug report, all mentioning a fix in kernel 2.6.22

I am running 2.6.24., with a few of my own (not storage related) patches

This post mentions a fix, and has a link to a source code patch, but the link is broken.

Where can I find a working patch to fix this ?

Hello,

Do a google search on mptscsi-rhel4gos-3.02.62.01-0vmw.i386.rpm and you will find several repositories for the fix.

Seems like my initial post wasn't accurate; all the references I found mention a kernel fix in 2.6.22 or earlier.

As I mentioned, I am running 2.6.24, and the problem is still happenning.

Any solutions out there ?

Since the problem is lsilogic related, should I consider moving to buslogic ?

Hello,

Moving to buslogic is definitely an answer. THe other is to work with RedHat for a solution. Also, what version of ESX are you using?
