EVA 8000 firmware update and ESX 3.0.1

Hi everybody

We have two datacenters with both EVA 8000. Two ESX 3.0.1 clusters.

We are planning to update EVA firmware but we are not sure if it can be done online, e.g. with ESX up and VMs running. In most cases with physical servers it can be done on line but... what about ESX? Any experience out there?

Hi,

This will state online upgrade is only suitable when low IO activity occurs,...we upgraded ours online but it was a very quiet time (Christmas) so low activity on the controllers. If you want to be safe and sure I would turn your hosts off.

How many hosts?

I knew that document but it only says that online upgrade is supported. I hope so

We have 9 hosts in two clusters (4+5)

No probs, I recommend doing some EVAPERF monitoring before upgrading.

The HP certified engineer should know what can and can't be done...
