30 day trial installation

I downloaded and am trying to install the VirtualCenter 2.0. I have the license files and everything.

But when I click on the virtualCenter Management Server install link, nothing happens.

The virtual Infrastructure client and the License server links work fine, just not the first.

Anyone encountered anything like this?

Thanks in advance.

You need to first install the license server and database system DSN before procedding to tghe installation of the virtual Center.

Please check that you have installed these or not

I do not see a DSN link for installation. I see only 3 links in the pop up window and they are in this order.

VirtualCenter Management Server - I click on it and nothing happens....

Virtual Infrastructure Client - Installs fine

License Server - Install fine with License files

I've had that same issue every time I try to install. I usually use the .exe files directly from the bin folder...

Ok that worked. I got the installation going.

Anothe question though. For the web service, it is saying "Invalid Virtual Infrastructure Web Service http port number or TCP/IP port in use. It must be in the 1-65535 range."

Is there a specific port that should be assigned to this? Currently its set to port 80, which I guess is why its saying its in use?

have you got an instance of IIS on the server that you are installing VC on if so remove it and allow VC to install to the default 80 otherwise you are just asking for pain

I did have IIS installed and am uninstalling. I just hope nothng needs ASP.net as that is dependent on IIS6.

Ok I have managed to get it installed.

Is there a place where I can get some step by step instructions on how to configure and use it on a basic level?

Sorry for the ignorance, my CEO just kind of threw this on me and said "figure it out"

I would say take a look through the documentation here:

http://www.vmware.com/support/pubs/vi_pubs.html

Also, check out http://www.vmware-land.com/Vmware_Links.html

Please don't forget to assign correct/helpful points where appropriate.
