windows 2003 sp2 forest trust

Hello,

Installed two forests with each having a domain on windows 2003 sp2.

Both domain DCs are VM machines with sysprep before dcpromo.

Conditional forwarder is configured in DNS on both side. Ping is

working & nslookup resolved to the correct name. When I go to add

forest trust in new trust wizard, the option is not available.

Also, I've following this link as a guide. Why is this not working, what's missing?

If you built Windows 2003 SP2 servers from templates (Not P2V'ed) and DC Promoed them to Domain controllers you should be fine. You said that the VM's were Syspreped so you customized your VM's I assume when you deployed from template ( No SID issue). If all that is correct it is more likely a networking or name resolution problem. Check DNS /Wins and make sure your virtual adapters are communicating on right network.

Thanks for your reply..

The virtual network is configured as bridged with forest1 (dc1) as 192.168.0.180 & forest2 (dc2) as 192.168.0.181.

Both can ping & resolve to each other. I don't recall adding the WINS. Does that matter?

Seems to me I remember there was an issue with this where you needed a Wins entry or a mapping in the host file for the servers to communicate and create trust. It was something strange like that. Everything else sounds good since you have connectivity. Is this ESX or workstation?

I'll add the WINS. It's for workstation 6.5.
