I have one doubt while installing ESX server 3.5.
SWAP partition is only 541--544 MB. generally. Why it is not double of RAM , as usually happens in LINUX Os.????
Another Ques is with LINUX..."Does LILO boot loader supports Multiple OSes like GRUB...???
ESX is not Linux, if you follow the boot process you will see that Grub starts the boot process, later you will see the line Loading VMKernel. this action effectively removes linux from memory in a similar manner to how Novell utilised Dos to boot and then pulled the rug from under its feet. the VMkernel is very lightweight and does not need the amount of swap of a Linux machine. once VMkernel loads and kills Linux, it then loads the SC as a VM.
as to your second question Grub is the only loader supported under VI3

ESX does swapping for the ram that the vm has asigned as physical ram.
It does no swapping for the complete address space of the vm, that consists of the ram assigned and the ram that is covered by the swapfile of the operating system of the vm.
There is no need for, becaus its already on disk.
