vmware workstation 7 and ubuntu 10 - can't type into login box

I have just installed ubuntu-10.04-desktop-i386.iso on my vmware workstation 7.

Any ideas why I can't type my password in at the logon box?

(It works fine with ubuntu 9)

Hello.

Are you using the latest version of Workstation 7.1? Ubuntu 10.04 is officially supported with this release.

Good Luck!

I'm using 7.0.1 build-227600 which is probably the problem.

Just downloading the new version now.

Thanks

Blimey. What a palaver.

Anyway. I downloaded and retried. The same problem with the vm I had already created.

I deleted the vm I had already created, and re-created it from scratch. Now I'm in.

the origin of this issue is a bug in "easy install" feature - it would not have happened with a regular installation
