error in vmware when creating a new VM

I hope this is the correct thread.

I can't create new VMs in vmware. Please see the attached screenshot and logs.

You still have autoinst.iso connected ...
Try to install your guest normally without using Autoinstall.

Can you run any VM ?
Did you successfully compile all modules ?
Can you start a VM while running as root ?

Dont use any fancy video settings - just regular VMware SVGA

I can pause/unpause all my other VMs without any sort of problem.

They're running fine.

Then simply fix your current VM. It is still in Autoinstall mode and probably tries to boot from iso.

made some progress by disabling 3d acceleration for the videocard.

but now my screen isn't enirely visible......it's partially obscured.

did you install vmware-tools ? - if not - do that now.

I’ve reported your original thread for a second time, since you didn’t wait for a moderator to move it and just created this duplicate anyway.

I have also reported this thread since it is still not in the area for Workstation.

thanks, made some progress but have another issue.

I tried to install ubuntu and it failed and had to restart the VM.

Now I'm blocked because it asks me to remove the installation medium CD in order to continue....but I can't do that, because I can't edit the VM and the power off button is grayed out......I'm pretty much stuck.

all fixed now, killall -9 vmware etc.

now works fine. Thank you for your help!
