Hi all,
i am trying to install opensuse 11.3-32bit guest on an ESXi4.1-320137 host and cannot run any version of vmtools, neither open-vm-tools from opensuse.org repositories, nor original VMware vmtools from my host or the version from the LinuxGuest ISO-image will work correctly. Though install gives no errors.
I tried different kernels - no chance.
I always get vmtoolsd FATAL - not loaded .... vmmemctl is not found ... (something like that)
I found an open bug report at Novell / Suse from August 2010 - the error is knwon but the cause is still unresolved (?)
Do I have to compile the tools myself? Do I miss something important ? Which kernel shall I use?
Right now I have kernel 2.6.34.7-0.7-default.
Any hints much appreciated !
