vmdk delta files

Hello Everyone,

I have a Virtual Machine with single 170GB hard disk. But when I check its directory using service console I see following contents -

This VM does not any snapshot (i checked and confirmed it in snapshot manager and commandline as well). Can anyone please let me know why there are *000001.vmdk and *000001-delta.vmdk files when there is no snapshot? Is there anyway I can get rid of these as I just have 5GB free space left on this datastore now.

Thanks.

with a bit of luck you csan just "add a snapshot" and press "delete all" to remove the old one also.

Can you post your vmx file and the <ServerName>-000001.vmdk and <ServerName>.vmdk files. I need to verify if I can do something to show this one as a snapshot. You will be able to commit the snapshot and getrid of the file.

The vmx file is pointing to the snapshot file. This snapshot could have been created by some sort of backup mechanismin your environment.

Please verify both the vmdk files, original and snapshot, (not the flat and delt, the small vmdk files which are data descriptor files) for the CID nad parentCID values.

The <ServerName>-000001.vmdk parentCID should be same as the original disk CID. If all is well you can try vmware-cmd </path/to/config/file> removesnapshot.

If you have enough space on another datastore and you can affort downtime you can also try and follow the thread below.
