the client has generated an error

On my VI client, when I go to the console on a vm it is not giving me the video. The video is frozen and generates an error after a few seconds

any idea?

this is 2.5 VC

What is the session OS? Any Firewalling between the host and the VC? Have you checked the log files attached (vmware.log in the session directory and vmkernel on the host) for this issue?

OK it is VIC 2.5 but what are you trying to connect to when you get the black screen, VC, a ESX host?

As mentioned in the post you are trying to take console of vm so assuming that you are not getting any error while connecting to VC or esx host. Please let us know following -

1. Is that VM in powered on and in working state / available on network?

2. Are you able to connect to the host on which that VM is running using vi client or putty?

3. Are you able to see video of other VMs running on that host?
