snapshotting--do you quiesce the VM?

Running vSpehere 4.0.

When taking a snapshot of a regular Windows server, when it has NO databases, do you ENABLE the option to "quiesce guest file system" when snapshotting?

What about taking a snapshot of a Windows server when it HAS a database, do you ENABLE the option to "quiesce guest file system" when snapshotting?

This seems to really be a confusing topic for me... Some people have believe one way, others, another way, and some say it doesn't matter?

Just wondering what others out there find themselves doing...

I always take snapshots with "quiesce guest file system". Can't see waht we can discuss here - do you want make your filesystem consistent or not?

Thanks for your responses on this. I guess, when in doubt, quiesce the VM while snapshotting, lol.
