restarted guest OS and lost NIC HELP!!

The nic is still there in device manager but network connections is empty and I can't ping the machine. Tried rebooting and uninstalling/reinstalling NIC to no avail ??

any suggestions??

Did you try installing vmware tools or did you uninstall the tools prior to the reboot?

My experience has been that if you P2V a server the nic with a static will work prior to installing vmware tools. Once the tools are installed the network stops and you end up having to show the hidden nic's in devmgmr and removing them and then adding back in the Static Ip's into the nics that the vmware tools installed.

i havent tried reinstalling tools. will do that.

I got around it by using netsh in dos to set the IP .. will try the tools. Any other suggestions?
