"Fit Guest Now" option greyed out - Windows Server 2003

Hi,

I'm currently investigating a problem we have with BSODs happening on certain Windows Server 2003 R2 VMs when using the "Fit Guest Now" option.

As part of my investigation, I removed Altiris Carbon Copy and reinstalled VMWare Tools. Now, when I open the VM console and go to the View menu, the "Fit Guest Now" option is greyed out. I've uninstalled / reinstalled VMware Tools but the option is still greyed out, meaning I'm unable to test if removing Carbon Copy has resolved the problem.

What do I need to do to re-enable this option? Am I missing something obvious?

I'm on vSphere 4 Update 1.

Hi,

I figured it out, so thought I would post on here, in case anyone else has the same problem.

I was able to get the "Fit Guest Now" to work by disabling the Windows graphics Hardware Acceleration. Further investigation found that someone had added the mks.enable3d row in the Configuration Parameters, which was causing the problem. Once I removed this entry, I was able to set the Hardware Acceleration back to Full and use "Fit Guest Now".
