Hi guys I am trying to add a new hdd to a linuc virtual server but it is not detecting within the os. Does anyone know any trick. I don't want to restart the server
Thanks
Or you restart the server, or you do a SCSI rescan inside Linux.

Hello,
Moved to Virtual Machine and Guest OS forum.
I have almost always had to reboot the VM. However, if you can rescan the SCSI bus, then there is a chance the driver can see the disk. If so then do 'fdisk -l' to see if it can see /dev/sdd. However if you added a /dev/hdd which is an iDE drive then you will have to reboot the VM.
