general system error when installing vmware tools

Jump to solution

hi everyone

i have converted two servers today and it went fine except that when i try to install vmware tools i get the message" a general sysytem error has occured" internal error.

the windows.iso file is not in the vmimages folder sos i reckon that thats the problem. is this correct? i have the vmware cd in the drive, any idea how to get the iso back in the directory and is this causing my error?

my two vms have 10mb connections and i need these up for monday morning, any help is greatly appreciated. my support is with dell and they told me today that they have no vmware specialists at the weekend????? (ill b taking that up with our account mgr on monday morning)

Hello,

Moved to the virtual machine and guest OS forum.

Do you get the error during 'install' or during 'mount' of the ISO image?

Also, did you go through and remove all hardware agents and unused hardware drivers from your VM after the P2V?
