file copy from windows to esx

Hi Friends

I have trying to copy files from windows to esx 3.5 by using veeam fastscp but it fails saying that cannot connect socket . SSHD has been configured to allow root access. Any ideas what is causing this ??

I had a simliar issue and just ended up using WinSCP.

I haven't had a chance to see if fastscp is intended to work with ESX 3.5, does anyone have it working ok?

You can just browse the datastore and upload files from within VirtualCenter... should be easier. Or check out this topic for a possible solution:

just noticed this: http://www.veeam.com/download/fastscp/FastSCP.xml

it's firewall related, copy this file into /etc/vmware/firewall

run the following command: service mgmt-vmware restart

and open up the service with: esxcfg-firewall -e FastSCP

FastSCP uses ports from the range 2500 - 5000 by default, so it's also important that connections at ESX side are not blocked.

For ESX 3.0.x the default 'EMCAAM Client' configuration opens ports 2050 - 5000 which will kick FastSCP into life.
