Hi,
I have a VM that has been converted from a win2003 server.
There is one vdisk that holds both the C and 😧 partition. Can i resize that vmdk (i need extra space quick) if the system partition resides on it?
No problem,
resize the disk with vmkfstools
boot the vm, windows will recognize the news disk, shutdown the vm
boot the vm with the opensource tool, gparted
reboot into windows
et voila

My virtualisation blog:
Adding Space to an ESX Server Virtual Disk
Increasing the size of a disk partition
Use vmkfstools to increase the size of the vmdk file.
Attach the vmdk file to another VM.
Power up that other VM.
Use diskpar to extend the volumes with that "vmdk" which may now be either "E & F" if the other VM has C and d:
Power down this VM.
Power up the converted VM and you should be good to go.
