Hi Friends,
Please help me to access usb drive on one of my virtual machine. I am using esx 4.0 with virtual center. I used to connect to VC from my laptop using vsphere client. Is it possible to access the usb drive which i connected on my laptop on the virtual machine? If possible please let me know the steps.
Regards,
Arumon
USB directly to vSphere VMs not supported but if your laptop on the same network with your vSphere VMs, create a folder in USB then make it File sharing & you should able access it from your VMs.
vcbMC-1.0.6 Beta
vcbMC-1.0.7 Lite
Thank you for the reply Athlon!!!!
Hello,
The alternative is to use a USB over IP device and plug the USB drive into this device.
Another alternative is to RDP to the VM and then use RDP USB Passthru to access the local USB device.
In general, if you are using the vSphere Client your laptop should be within the management network which should be firewalled from non-management VMs and I would never allow file sharing between those networks.
