Wrong cpu and mem usage information in virtual center

Hi

I have 2 virtual machines that where p2v with platespin they ar running my company's cisco ip phone switch board software.

Both machines are running windows 2000 sp4 have 2 CPU's and 2 gigs of ram.

The probelm is that somtimes they perform fine then the next minute there performance gets really bad. and virtual center shows very high cpu and memory load but when you look at the machines there is no load on them.

For example I am logged in to one of the machines now and virtual center shows constant cup mhz of 4410 but the machine is at 5 - 30 % load and memory usage is 974 mb in virtual center but 272 in task manager with over all 1,5 gig available

I am running ESX 3.5 U3 and upgraded tools .

Has any anyone had similar experiance with virtual machines p2v'd bye platespin , windows 2000 , this combination ?

And do you have any tips on something I could try.

with regards.

Sorry, could have worded that a bit better, I ment in total on the host - i.e. 2 X Dual core cpu's = 4 vcpu

Thanks,

If you look at the vm through VC and look at the performance tab, change the chart options and include the cpu wait state - what values do you get when the vm starts running slow?

Thanks,

Hi,

Can you check , if vmware service isusing more amount of ram in the macine.

if yes, then try to stop and restart the service.

This would refresh the data shown in the VC as well.
