Windows Server 2008 R2 causing ESXi 4.1 to crash?

Hi!

Can anybody tell me why my Win 2008 server R2 guest VM crash my free version of Vmware ESXi 4.1 to PSOD? This VM are running on SSD hard drive.

Raid Controller is Areca 1880 and the server is Supermicro with motherboard X8ST3-F.

Other two VMs on this server running smoothly.

Tnx

Is there a specific error message you receive when it crashes?  Have you checked the logs on the Windows server after restarting?

Looks like it could be related to firmware on your SuperMicro or RAID controller - have you updated them recently?  Also are your other 2 VMs 2008 R2 or some other version?

This thread may help

Firmware on Raid Controller is up to date...but firmware on Supermicro isn't. When i googled this issue i found many discussion where people says that this could be a controller driver issue on ESXi.

Other two VMs aren't Win 2k8 R2...one is Win Xp and the other is CentOS.

I think that the first thing i have to do is to install controller driver and than if this will not solve my issue is to update Supermicro firmware.

I will be back with solution or not Smiley Happy
