Windows 7 and LSI SCSI Controller

Does anyone at VMWare know of or have access to the drivers to allow Windows 7 to be installed in an ESX 3.5 / ESXi infrastructure? During installation, the hard disks are not recognized which means that the LSI Adapter, Ultra320 SCSI 2000 series, w/1020/1030 driver is not inbox. I obtained the latest x86 and x64 drivers from LSI's website and they install, but do not resolve the issue (HD's are still not visible).

I got around this for Windows 7 x86 by using the BusLogic controller and the driver avaiable for it from VMware's website, but there is no x64 version of this driver.

Any thoughts?

I would like to know the answer to this as well since I am experiencing the same problem.Good to see that it's not just me.

The hard drive is not detected, even though I have loaded the Vista x86 LSI driver for the LSI20320-R SCSI adapter manually downloaded from the LSI website.

Tried the BusLogic controller, and seemingly installed ok. However, when it rebooted during the install process (automatically, not in error) the machine came back up with the:

"NTLDR is missing" error message. Tried reinstalling and repairing the volume to reinstall the Windows bootloader, but this didnt help. Used the same driver as CH-Dave. Any ideas?

The BusLogic controller installed just fine for me, but then when the setup process rebooted, the "NTLDR is missing" error came up...tried reinstalling a few times, as well as doing the repair operation to reinstall the NT bootloader. I used the same driver from VMware's website that you guys mentioned. Any ideas?

Never had that problem. Then again, I was setting Windows 7 up within Lab Manager 3.0.

What VMware product are you using?

After loading the drivers and when setup has continued, disconnect the floppy image. It is not bootable but the first device tried. (And causing this error, nothing wrong with Windows probably.)

I'm using VMware workstation 5.5.x, but I think this trick should apply to you.

1. Remove the SCSI HD in your VM machine

2. Add a HD, this time select IDE

3. Configure the HD as you like, install Windows 7 again. This time the IDE HD shouuld appear on the list.

On a ESX (atleast for me) you are unable to use IDE, it enforces SCSI.

Using the BusLogic controller and the provided SCSI driver from vmware i was able to install just fine.
