Hi,
Your VM configuration looks OK to me, however there's 2 things in your log file that stand out to me.
The first one is a CPU hard reset directly after the LSI virtual SAS controller is being initialised, but that might be normal.
Then your log has a lot of these lines:
Jul 30 08:37:28.383: vmx| CDROM ide1:0: CMD 0x28 (READ(10)) FAILED (key 0x2 asc 0x30 ascq 0) Jul 30 08:37:28.383: vmx| VIDE: ATAPI 0x28 Failed: key 0x2, asc 0x30, ascq 0x0 Jul 30 08:37:28.384: vmx| CDROM-LIN: readv(/dev/scd0) failed: Read beyond the end of file (9). Jul 30 08:37:28.384: vmx| CDROM ide1:0: CMD 0x28 (READ(10)) FAILED (key 0x2 asc 0x30 ascq 0)
which seems to me to suggest that your Windows 7 RTM download wasn't 100% successful.
Have you verified the checksum of that disk?

What version of VMware do you use? ESX or VMware Workstation? I was able to run Windows 7 on VMware Workstation and using x64 bit VISTA option for the VM and mount the .iso and install no problems. I've seen people had it installed on ESX as a VM is fine too but it would be slowness during boot time. It was during beta testing of Windows 7 but didn't try RTM for Windows 7 yet.

Hi,
It seems to me that you are trying to load the Buslogic driver into Windows 7.
Try changing the virtual adapter controller to LSI logic and I would expect it to work just fine.

As wila rightly suggests i had to change the adapter to lsi logic for it to work. All my windows 7 instances are running fine in esx.
Make sure you have obviously changed it to 64bit compatibility

LSI Logic Parallel SCSI worked fine for me.

I already have Windows 7 RC running, but this RTM one doesn't.
LSI logic SAS and Parellel doesn't work.
I have it running on windows 7 32.bit (experimental) maybe i'll try vista version. (5min later) Nope that didn't work same outcome.
Hi,
Can you attach your vmware.log file?

Wila,
I used the iso on my desktop and its working. Didnt even need to use the vmscsi-1.2.0.4.flp file.
So something was wrong with the CD i made.
Thanks!!

Cool, great to hear you found the problem and thanks for the points.
You don't need to use the driver from the floppy as it is a buslogic driver and normally only used for windows XP and windows 2000.
For Windows 2003 and up you should use LSI logic drivers as the default adapter will be LSI logic. Drivers for that adapter are included in windows, so scsi disk adapter recognition should work "out of the box" with the newer versions of windows.
hope this helps,
