Win2003 won't boot after a migrate.

Hi

Have tried to migrate a newly created a VM from one ESX to another ESX by keeping storage for vmdk's. When I try to boot the VM after the migrate i won't boot because i can't boot from hardisk. Have tried with both 32 bit and 64 bit windows. Both ESX server have running VM's, and is connected to the same SAN.

Have done a unix diff on the vmx filer after the migrate

Vmx file for VM which does not boot: guestOS = "winNetStandard-64"

Vmx file for VM which boot: guestOS = "winnetstandard-64"

Vmx file for VM which does not boot: uuid.location = ""

Vmx file for VM which boot: uuid.location = "56 4d 2f 7b cf 31 ff d2-80 0f 9c cb 41 78 6e 68"

What does won't boot mean? Do you get any error messages? What are they exactly? What version of ESX are you using? What is the path to the vmdk in the vmx file? Is that file there? Any chance there's a ? in VC while you're booting?

The virtual Windows 2003 machine will not boot after the migrate has finished. We do not receive any error messages. VMware ESX Server 3.0.1

The path to the vmdk files do change.

What do you mean when you say: Any chance there's a ? in VC while you're booting?
